IMPROVING MEDICAL RECORDS ACCURACY

Iodine Software’s Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) solutions is used by several of the largest hospitals in the US. The software solution reviews a patient’s medical record and predicts which cases are likely to be incorrectly or insufficiently documented. This provides hospital staff with a prioritized list of cases that they can focus upon.

Aviana helped Iodine Software to improve the accuracy of their predictive models used to correlate data from patient medical records with the recorded clinical diagnosis. The models use both structured and unstructured data as predictors. The engagement improved the predictive accuracy of the model by 400%.

MINIMIZING EMPLOYEE ATTRITION

Cisco wanted to find out why employees decide to leave, and how best to encourage them to stay.

With Aviana’s guidance using text mining techniques, Cisco was able to analyze more than 18,000 free form responses from employees who completed the optional text sections of the Pulse questionnaire.

Aviana built SPSS sophisticated models which combined cluster analysis techniques with unstructured text sentiment analysis. This helped them to understand both the strength and direction of response sentiment to the key questions, aligned to the employee engagement scale.

IMPROVING EQUIPMENT PERFORMANCE

DirecTV had difficulties classifying Set-Top Box (STB) failure reasons. Customers returning their STBs provide a form that lists the reason for the return. DirecTV’s computerized operational applications can easily recognize the standard comments on the checklist however, they cannot analyze the handwritten or typewritten customer feedback. Unfortunately, the most common reason for return was “Other” and its accompanying freeform text.

Aviana answered DirecTV’s call and implemented a text mining solution, that compiled all the unstructured comments and analyzed the data to derive some common reasons by applying advanced semantic modeling and analytic techniques. This enabled the DirecTV Operations Department to identify failure reasons more accurately and take timely actions to improve performance in future.
